Royal update 1 - we're all in this together, well sort of.

It was great to hear the Queen telling us, a week ago, that she and her family stand ready to play their part during this crisis. Maybe I've got this wrong but they seem to be just looking after themselves so far.

On the 19th March on the Royal Family Twitter feed the Queen announced that she'd arrived at Windsor with Philip. It seems they got there by helicopter. Nice.

Guidance from the Government - issued on Sunday (22nd March) - says: “Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays.
“People should remain in their primary residence. Not taking these steps puts additional pressure on communities and services that are already at risk.”
Non essential travel to a second home ? Sounds like it. Maybe got the nod before shutters came down ? Or maybe Windsor isn't their second home, perhaps number six or nine ?

Standing ready though, all of them.
P.S. Bad news for Philip though, the McDonalds, just over the over the road from the Castle is closed to protect the safety of their employees. So no sending a lackey out to get you a midnight snack from there !
P.P.S. According to the Pizza Express website all their UK restaurants are closed for now, including Woking, although that has no relevance here.

Priti is back - "I am leading..." just when we thought things couldn't get any worse !

Back in February Priti Patel, Home Secretary (aaarrgghh !!), repeatedly vowed to tackle "counter-terrorism offenders" following a shocking knife attack in Streatham.

Since then her profile has been very low, I'm glad to say.

Until yesterday that is....

According to the Daily Mail website, 9/4/2020:

Ms Patel, who has not been seen or heard in public since March 23, said in an unexpected radio interview this evening that police must not act in a 'heavy-handed' manner during the coronavirus lockdown.

This on the same day that Downing Street said Britain was at a 'critical juncture' in the battle to curb the spread of the disease and with good weather forecast for the long weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, in the same article, she also stated  " .... what I would say is that I speak to the police every day, in fact I am leading operational calls every single day with our blue light family"

Really ? Leading operational calls every single day ? Can th…

More than 50,000 additional deaths and Stanley is flogging a book !! Outrageous

On Sky News this morning we had: Stanley Johnson re-launching his book "The Virus".

As the body count mounts (now one of the highest in the world) at the incompetent hands of a government led by his hopeless son Boris, Stanley is now trying to make a few quid out of his book.
"It's got a new cover" he chortled.

All proceeds to the the NHS ?

What do you think ?

Okay Priti, read the script, then answer the questions - got that ?

No. 10 press conference, Saturday 11/4. The format is familiar now. A senior politician flanked by one or two experts.

Unfortunately the senior politician was Priti Patel. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put her out must be kicking themselves now.

Reading from a script she got off to a bad start, the summary of the key numbers went badly wrong. These are important numbers but this is what we got: "as of 9am today three hundred thousand and thirty four, nine hundred and seventy four thousand tests have been carried out across the UK excluding Northern Ireland". No hesitation, just carried on. Just like in February when she vowed (at least four times) to tackle "counter terrorism". Did that crazy number on Saturday sound right ?  Not to us, but apparently it was fine to the Home Sec. !! Onwards and upwards....

So that's three hundred thousand and thirty four, nine hundred and seventy four thousand according to Priti. I haven't seen the script, but it'…
